About the InnoDiaCare Summer School
In Europe, 60 million people suffer from diabetes with a trend projected towards 70 million by 2030 – driven by obesogenic lifestyles and living environments and by the demographic transformation of European societies. Accordingly many patients with diabetes depend on intensive nursing and homecare and are highly susceptible for functional worsening, exacerbation of comorbidities and avoidable hospitalization. Digital technologies have a high potential to strengthen people’s health resiliency and to intercept early prodiabetic traits. Digital technologies will help to personalise diabetes management and improve life quality, reduce disease aggravation, streamline healthcare operations, and reduce health care costs. Digital technologies will close the present gap between state-of-the-art knowledge and the effectiveness of diabetes management.
InnoDiaCare partners with the CLOSE EIT Health innovation project on implementing automated glucose control at home for people with chronic disease (CLOSE partners: Air Liquide Healthcare, Sanofi, Cellnovo, Profil GmbH, IESE Business School, Katholic University of Leuven, Medical University of Lodz, EURICE – European Research and Project Office) and will empower you to develop your own business ideas related to realistic care scenarios for diabetes patients. We aim to combine the experience of patients and their caregivers with the know-how of experts from industry and academia, and your inventiveness to create novel ideas in diabetes care eligible for follow-up within and beyond EIT Health. You will experience how integrating R&D, entrepreneurial education, and the creation of new businesses will make a real difference for people with diabetes and their supporting environments. Working in small teams of students and coached by innovation and management experts from various European partners, you will develop your own innovative solution for diabetes care. The best solution will be selected by a high-level group of experts from academia and industry.
Join us in developing innovative and disruptive solutions for the pressing issue of diabetes care in Europe. We count on your ideas.
