More than ever, research and innovation are crucial for making our economies more competitive and knowledge-driven. The signs of economic recovery across Europe are now visible, however more needs to be done to ensure a strong and lasting recovery.
The European Research Area (ERA) can make a major contribution to job creation and growth in Europe by ensuring the free circulation of researchers, knowledge and technology.
2014 is a major milestone because all the conditions necessary for a fully functioning ERA should be in place. My services are, therefore, conducting a survey to establish whether ERA is implemented and that sufficient progress has been made since 2012.
I would very much appreciate your views and invite you to participate in the 2014 ERA Survey, which is a substantially simplified version of the 2012 survey. The survey will run until 21 March 2014 and the results will be published on the ERA website.
